NSTA - Step forward
In collaboration with the New Zealand School Trustees Association (NZSTA), we had the opportunity to design a low-budget campaign aimed at encouraging local members of the public to step forward and become trustees for their local schools. The challenge was to develop a campaign that would speak to a wide demographic, motivating individuals from all walks of life to consider the importance and impact of school governance.
The campaign needed to cut through the noise of everyday messaging, offering something simple yet powerful that would resonate with potential trustees, regardless of their background. The central idea was to create a sense of pride around becoming a school trustee — a role that directly shapes the future of local education.
To achieve this, I designed a series of bold posters and short, impactful videos. The visuals were deliberately strong and direct, capturing the essence of the campaign's message: becoming a trustee is a meaningful way to contribute to your community. The creative elements were paired with clear calls to action, directing people to the school board election page, where they could learn more, vote for local candidates, or even put themselves forward for consideration.
Ultimately, the goal was to inspire a sense of ownership and pride in school governance, making the idea of becoming a trustee something that felt both achievable and impactful for everyone.
